14 ARA'S COCOONS

Designing home spaces for families with adolescents that have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), this particular design looked at the bedroom space for a teenage girl named Ara.


Utilizing the idea of cocoons, the resulting area incorporates organic shapes that offer movement and a beautiful interplay of light and shadow which giving both privacy and sight lines. The cocoons offer complete integration for use.


Key components to the process included design and academic research, material research, strategy, schematic design, programmatic design, and design development.
